Williams and Jones boost Wales

Ospreys wing wizard Williams (hip) and Scarlets speedster Jones (ankle) were both thought to be ruled out of the capacity Millennium Stadium fixture next Sunday (3.00pm), but a week’s rehabilitation has improved their respective chances. Jenkins is now set to name his debut RBS Six Nations Championship team selection on Thursday February 1st 2007.

“We’ve had a very positive feedback session with Mark Davies [the Wales Team Physiotherapist] and a couple of players have responded well to treatment and might now be available,” said Jenkins. “We think that maybe Mark Jones and Shane Williams could potentially be available for the weekend, so we want to give them as long as possible to be fit for the game.

“We know we have a responsibility to name the team as soon as possible and we were going to do it on Monday, but we now feel that Thursday is the appropriate time.”
