Having failed to qualify for the Heineken Cup through the Magners League, the Scarlets would earn a Heineken Cup reprieve if the Blues beat Toulon in their May 23rd showdown and Davies admits his side are hoping for a favour from Dai Young’s men.
“It’ll be tough but if the Blues do us a favour by winning the Amlin Challenge Cup final, then that’s good news for us,” said Scarlets coach Davies.
“We will be watching them in the final and we wish them all the best.”
Victory for the Blues would ensure that all four Welsh regions feature in next year’s Heineken Cup and could alleviate some of the Scarlets’ disappointment at missing out on an automatic European place through their domestic competition.
Davies said: “We would have preferred to be in a position where we were in control of our own destiny with regards to qualification for the Heineken Cup and not reliant on other results.
“But it will be a tough one against Toulon in Marseille in May.”
