Outside half Rhodri Carlton-Jones converted all five tries as the North Walians cruised to another magnificent victory on the road, 35-17 win.

Carlton-Jones vented his frustration after his team’s first scheduled home game of the campaign was postponed last Saturday, but RGC will now be brimming with confidence when they make their first appearance at Eirias Park next weekend.

Due to last week’s postponement, Ystrad Rhondda top the table after maintaining their fine run form with a crushing 40-16 victory at Rumney. Scorers included No. 8 Liam Davies, full back Alex Webber and centre Bleddyn Davies, while outside half Rhys Truelove added three conversions, two penalties and a drop goal for a 15 point match haul.

Struggling Treorchy got their first victory of the season at home to Penallta, picking up the bonus point in a tight 31-27 win. Skipper Sean Ireland crossed twice for Ynysybwl but still couldn’t stop visitors Gilfach Goch going away with a 32-25 victory.

It was tense at Bedlinog in Division 2 East as the Foxes’ No. 8 Luke Morgan scored a hat-trick in a nail-biting 35-33 victory over Abercynon. Nelson scored seven tries to overcome Pill Harriers 38-20 and add to their narrow lead at the top of the table.

Elsewhere, Llantwit Fardre squeezed past Llantrisant with a 30-29 away win but it was the fourth defeat in a row for bottom place Tylorstown, who were beaten 28-12 at home to third place Senghenydd.

There was late drama at Virginia Park as Caerphilly kicked a penalty in the dying moments to beat Abergavenny 27-24 and ensure fourth place in the Division 3 East table.

Pontypool United kept their grip on the top spot thanks to a comfortable 34-13 win at Brynmawr while Newport HSOB bounced back after two consecutive defeats with a 35-10 victory over Croesyceiliog.

Leaders Pontyclun gained their fifth win of the Division 3 South East campaign, crossing six times to fly past Fairwater 41-8. Dowlais are secure in second place thanks to a 51-8 victory over Cardiff Quins, while Brecon picked up their first points of the season with a 34-19 bonus point win against Porth Harlequins.
