Mefin Davies’ side were painfully close to picking up only their third win of the season, but were left devastated after wing Cameron Clements last-minute penalty flew agonisingly wide- giving the Ravens a 14-13 victory.
Second-row Kyle Evans crashed over to give Bridgend the lead after sixteen minutes, but Swansea hit-back with two Clements penalties and a try from Rhys Williams. But hearts were broken at St. Helens when hooker Ashley James went over and James Dixon held his nerve to convert.
Camarthen Quins strengthened their claim for a play-off spot by overcoming Swalec Cup semi-finalists Cross Keys 7-3 in a tense game at Pandy Park. Quins centre Rhys Williams scored the only try of the game to push Camarthen up to second place in the Premiership table.
Terrible conditions turned the Pandy Park pitch into a mud bath, meaning try scoring opportunities were few and far between. Craig Evans conversion proved crucial for the West Walians, as the Keys had to search for five-points. And they managed to survive after a late onslaught, led by fly-half Dorian Jones.
Llanelli kept their play-off hopes alive after beating Cardiff RFC 31-24 at the Arms Park in an entertaining clash. Both teams traded scores as they battled for supremacy. Dafydd Hewitt pounced on his own charge down to score before the Parc-Y-Scarlets outfit were awarded a penalty try to wrestle back the lead.
Tries from Dion Jones and Josh Adams looked to have secured the win for Llanelli, but Cardiff came back again through fly-half Dean Gunter. However, a late penalty by Jones put the game beyond the Blue and Blacks, giving Llanelli an outside chance of play-off rugby.
Neath secured a vital 24-19 win at Bedwas to distance themselves from bottom side Swansea, in a match that ended in controversy. Two first half tries from Leon Ward and Tom James put Neath in command before Rory Budina hit back for the home side.
The boot of Richard Powell got Bedwas back in the game, and with the clock counting down towards full time, Neath were awarded a scrum five metres from their own line. Prop Roy Jones went off injured, and with no suitable replacement, passive scrums were called. Neath won the scrum and booted the ball out to secure the points.
Two missed kicks from centre Richard Thomas meant Aberavon drew 10-10 with Llandovery, who slip down to third in the Premiership. Llandovery led 10-5 at half-time thanks to a penalty try and five points from the boot of outside-half Ian Brooks.
The Wizards hit-back through Aaron Grabham but Thomas couldn’t seal the win after missing the conversion and a late long-range penalty.
