Jenkins desperate for winning feeling

Cardiff Blues captain Gethin Jenkins is desperate to get back on the horse and arrest their run of bad results.

Danny Wilson’s side slipped to a 13-6 derby defeat to the Ospreys on Saturday having lead 6-0 at half-time. The Blues are struggling in the Guinness PRO12. A round one victory over Zebre is still the only victory they have to their name after eight matches. It does not get any easier for the Blues, who face a home clash against league leaders Connacht this weekend, but Jenkins is desperate to rediscover that winning feeling.

He said: “Nobody wants to get a win more than us. We’ve had a difficult start to the season but we are all working extremely hard to put that right and we go again against Connacht,” he said.

“The weather played a big part in the derby game, but I have been on the end of a few bad results down at the Liberty Stadium so we look to the positives about the way we played.

“We are all disappointed to lose the game, we are not getting away from that, but we are encouraged by the manner of the performance and the way we’ve moved forward as a team.

“It was physical up front against Ospreys and we knew each other’s games really well. There are a lot of boys who have played international rugby together.

“But I felt we matched them for quite a bit of the game and just a few decisions went against us towards the end, we have got to be more ruthless in the contact area to stop that happening.”
