The 23-year-old leaves Cornwall having carved out a reputation as a strong running, ball carrying centre in the Greene King IPA Championship.

His senior rugby career began with Carmarthen Quins in the 2010-11 season. He appeared for Wales Under 20s in both the Six Nations and the World Cup in Italy, during the same period he also made his debut for the Scarlets against Saracens.

James will be familiar with the Wizards’ surroundings, having featured for them on loan two seasons ago.

“As a family, we thought it was time to come back to Wales and therefore I gave the Wizards a call to see if Aberavon would be interested in having me on board,” James said.

After a great experience at the club previously, James did not think twice about what team he wanted to play his rugby for in Wales.

“As a club I can see a bright future and there is also a great culture that comes with the club, which are both crucial ingredients for success.

“I think my leadership and the experience that I have gathered from playing the other side of the border can be valuable,” added James.

Wizards Head Coach Jason Hyatt said, “Rheon spent time with the Wizards in the 2013-2014 season where he made an instant impact with his professional attitude. He combines power with vision and a great skill set.”
James concluded, “I am very excited to be opening another chapter with Aberavon.”
