Wales U20 can’t wait to experience packed Parc Eirias

Wales U20 players have expressed their excitement at running out at Parc Eirias against England in a fortnight’s time.

Centres Ioan Nicholas and Kieran Williams were at the Colwyn Bay venue this week for the launch of the partnership between SP Energy Networks and both Wales U20 and RGC 1404.

The top-class facilities at Parc Eirias attract sports teams from across the country, but it’s as the home of Wales U20 that most Welsh rugby fans will know it – especially since head coach Jason Strange’s team memorably clinched the Grand Slam there last season.

Strange announced his 32-man squad for the 2017 U20 Six Nations last week, during which he emphasised how important home support at Parc Eirias would be this year when they take on England and Ireland. Nicholas, who in 2015 became the youngest ever player to represent the Scarlets, says that excitement is mounting within the camp at the thought of those two matches in North Wales this year.

“We need to focus on Italy away first, of course, because that will be a very tough match,” says the 18-year-old from Pontyberem, “but last year’s players have spoken about how special the atmosphere is here at Parc Eirias, with all the support from North Wales and beyond, so it’s something we’re all hoping we can get a chance to experience.”

Fellow centre Williams, who has been in fine from at the Gnoll this season, echoed his Wales U20 teammate’s thoughts. “Parc Eirias is a unique place, so the thought of us playing here against England and Ireland is amazing. Jason, our head coach, is a big advocate of playing positive rugby, so I think that’s something the supporters here appreciate.”

Wales U20 welcome England to Parc Eirias on Friday 10th February (19:15), with Ireland arriving on Saturday 11th March (18:30). Ticket prices are £15 for seats with £10 (£5 concession) tickets available for those who wish to stand.

Tickets can be purchased online here or www.venuecymru.co.uk (booking fees £1.75 per adult, free for children) or calling the WRU Ticketline on 02920822432. Terrace tickets can also be bought over the counter at Colwyn Leisure Centre, or by phone on 01492 577900.
