Bridgend College hoping for Brewery Field boost

Bridgend College hoping for Brewery Field boost

Craig Warlow’s Bridgend College side will be hoping for a few more home comforts when they host Coleg Llandrillo in the fifth round of the Welsh Schools & Colleges league at the Brewery Field on Tuesday night (10 October, kick-off 7.00pm).

It has been a tough start to the season for the Bridgend side, who had to sit out Round 1 and then kicked-off their campaign with a 20-12 home win over Llandovery College. After such an encouraging start they then had to travel to face last season’s finalists in consecutive weekends.

They put up a strong fight before going down 21-3 against Coleg Y Cymoedd before falling 45-5 to reigning champions Coleg Sir Gar in the last round. Now head coach Warlow will be targeting a return to winning ways against the north Walians in the S4C live broadcast match (Watch Here).

Llandrillo have also beaten Llandovery College, 16-10, and that triumph finally broke their duck after three successive defeats to Glantaf, Gwent College and Whitchurch HS. Two of those defeats were by one score or less.

Last season it was Llandrillo who win this game, rather convincingly with a 41-5 scoreline at home, but Bridgend won the last time the two teams met on their turf, 47-19 in 2014.
