It marks a hugely-successful first season in charge for coaching duo Mark Davies and Dai Edwards, who teamed up last summer, and steered the Tigers to 18 wins from their 22 league matches.

After a somewhat shaky start that yielded just one win from their opening four league matches, the cobwebs were blown off as they went undefeated in the league from September 30.

A run of 10 straight league victories from October 14 was halted only by a 17-17 draw at Canton on March 10 – one of two draws during the campaign – before reeling off seven straight victories during the run in to end as worthy champions.

Tylorstown finished with a perfect winning record on home soil, with their two league defeats coming early on at the hands of Cowbridge and Llantwit Major after they also drawn 24-24 at Ynysowen on opening weekend.

They also finished nine points clear of Cowbridge and 16 ahead of rivals Treherbert.

And it was their 20-0 win at Treherbert on April 14 that club secretary Lionel Langford picked out as his highlight of the season.

“We looked like champions that day,” he said. “To win against your Valleys rivals is very difficult, it was the hardest game to win but we played very well. We’re delighted.”

Langford picked out player coach David Hefford, captain Chris Lloyd and young scrum-half Dylan Lewis – in his first season out of youth rugby – for their outstanding contributions over the course of the season.
