They won for the 13th time in the league this season as they ran in eight tries in a 59-5 home defeat of basement boys Glais last weekend and now only have five games left to play. Nearest rivals Bridgend Sports may be 12 points behind, but they have five games in hand.

It is a similar story with third placed Swansea Uplands, who are 16 points back, but have four games to make up. It all means there will be a pretty nervy run-in for the table-toppers.

They head to sixth placed Vardre this weekend seeking to do the double. They beat them 14-5 at home.

Mathew Batts and Cellan Davies helped themselves to two tries in the win over Glais, who they travel to meet later this month, while there were also tries for Rhys Williams, Dewi Pritchard, captain Carwyn Owen and Richie Elliott. Connor Hughes kicked 19 points.

The big game this weekend will see Aberavon Green Stars in fifth host fourth placed Pyle. Both teams are locked on 44 points, although Pyle have played two games less. Then Bridgend Sports welcome Abercrave on 23 March in a game that could have huge implications on where the silverware goes this season.

In Division 3 West Central B, Banwen moved up to fourth with a 23-7 home defeat of Rhigos. Anthony Llewellyn, Jordan Roderick and Daniel Morgan were all on the scoresheet while Llewellyn also added two penalties and a conversion.

Banwen closed the gap on league leaders Baglan to 14 points with two games in hand. This weekend sees a top-of-the-table clash with second placed Bryncethin going to Baglan with only three points separating the sides.

Ystalyfera will be looking to take advantage of the fact their title rivals Bonymaen and Glynneath are in WRU National Plate action they host Ammanford in Division 1 West Central this weekend.

Bonymaen beat the table-toppers 23-10 last month to cut the gap at the top to five points. Third place Glynneath are a further nine points back, but have two games in hand.

Third hosts top in Division 2 West Central as Resolven look to reignite their title challenge with victory over Birchgrove. There are 21 points between the sides although Resolven do have three games in hand.

There is also a top-of-the-table showdown in Division 3 West Central C as leaders Penygroes host nearest challengers Furnace United. Penygroes currently boast an 11-point advantage but have played two games more.
