Oh Brother! Drovers will be family affair this season

Adam Warren has returned to Llandovery to join brother Aaron

There was a real family feel to the Llandovery side that completed the club’s pre-season campaign with a win over Cinderford at Church Bank.

The Drovers line-up contained three sets of brothers as they cruised to a 26-12 win over the Forest of Dean side that finished fifth in last season’s National One division in the English league system.

Euros Evans’ side ran in four tries to two as they ended their preparations for the Indigo Group Premiership season on a high. The win also made up for the 19-14 reverse against Pontypool in their earlier warm-up game in which they played 40 players over the three, 30 minute periods.

Former Wales and Dragons centre Adam Warren had a run out against Cinderford to link up with younger brother Aaron in the back line. Both picked up tries, while Marco and Dino Dalavalle played up front and Jack and Scott Maynard joined forces behind.

“I’m not sure if that is some sort of record, having three sets of brothers play in the same game, but it was a nice landmark for the club. It’s great having Adam Warren back with us and he could be an important addition for us,” said Evans.

“It’s also been good to welcome back Jack Maynard from Cardiff, along with Llyr Green, and Jack will battle with Ioan Hughes, who has joined from Llanelli, for the No 10 shirt. We’re in good shape and looking forward to the season.”

Llandovery finished fourth last season in the Indigo Prem and kick-off their season with a trip to Carmarthen Quins for a local derby on 3 September.
