Say Diolch to your community volunteers

Community flag bearer

Paul Davies of Llanelli Wanderers leads Wales out against Georgia

Volunteers are critical to the success of the community game in Wales. Eight individuals were nominated as flagbearers during the recent autumn international series [CLICK HERE for more) and now the Welsh Rugby is launching a ‘Diolch’ Community Volunteer recognition award to thank those at the heart of community rugby who selflessly give up their time to support participation, people and places in Welsh rugby.

Angharad Collins, Head of Places for Welsh Rugby Union said, “There are so many volunteers involved in the community game and with this being our first full season back to community rugby after two difficult seasons of lockdowns, we wanted to recognise, celebrate and give thanks to the endless amounts of hours dedicated by our brilliant volunteers. The WRU Club Development Team is ready to accept nominations for anyone who makes a big difference to their club, whatever their role.”

Geraint John Community Director for Welsh Rugby Union said, “We look forward to getting around Wales presenting ‘Diolch’ awards as a small thank you and recognition for the support that volunteers have shown to our community game. Our game relies on our volunteers and we look forward to announcing further volunteer recognition events throughout this season”.

The Club Development team is keen to have as many nominations as possible. This is an ongoing campaign and will run throughout the season. Nominations are now open. Please email clubdevelopment@wru.wales or speak to one of our Club Development Officers who will take the nomination forward
