It was the perfect dress rehearsal for their WRU Division 1 Cup Final with similarly undefeated Nant Conwy at Principality Stadium on Sunday. It was also a 17th consecutive bonus point win to ensure they remained on maxim points for the season.

Their tries came from full back Robbie Turley, who also kicked two conversions, centre Jonny Paynter, scrumhalf Matt Davies hooker Stuart Vokes and flanker Luke Morgan. Second placed Brynmawr lost 17-5 at home to Brecon and cannot now catch Newbridge with only two games to play.

Brecon still have eight games to play and could catch the leaders, but it would require a major drop off in form for Newbridge to lose the title now.

In Division 1 East Central, Rhydyfelin went on the rampage at home against lowly Ynysybwl and ended up winners by 71-3. There were doubles by Chris Tottle and Lloyd Riley as they raced into a 31-3 interval lead. Then the floodgates opened.

That moves them up to second, 11 points behind league leaders Rumney with two games in hand. Third placed Treorchy were beaten 31-5 at fourth placed St Peter’s.
Rumney ran out 24-18 victors at home over Cambrian Welfare and picked up a bonus point thanks to tries from Spencer Lumbey, Josh Dean, Tom Maton and Luke Fear.

There was no change at the top in Division 1 West Central as all three teams in the promotion spots, Bonymaen, Kenfig Hill and Dunvant all won, but there was a shock for fourth placed Ammanford, who were beaten 43-24 at Glynneath.

In Division 1 West, Crymych and Newcastle Emlyn remain locked on 69 points after they both picked up bonus-point wins. They are due to meet in Crymych on 3 May, when the title may well be decided.
