The long-striding Dinefwr centre simply had too much gas for her opponents and twice raced in from distance to keep her side in control after Bryn Celynnog playmaker Sienna McCormack had given her side an early lead.

The two teams had met on the way to the final, with Bryn Celynnog taking the honours on that occasion, but despite their fast start, they weren’t able to keep up with Morgan and co once they got into their stride.

Morgan, who runs for Carmarthen Harriers in the sprints and high hurdles, levelled things up after McCormack’s early strike with a try in the right corner than owed much to the direct approach of her midfield partner Charlotte Merry earlier in the move.

WHAT THEY HAD TO SAY . . . Ysgol Bro Dinefwr head coach Simon Davies
“It’s an incredible experience for the girls. We are a small school, and we are punching well above our weight with this win. We lost to Bryn Celynnog in the group stages, so it just comes to show how far the girls have come over the last seven or eight weeks.

“What an athlete Beatrice Morgan is. She could be doing 100m, 200m, hurdles, long jump, hockey, rugby – you name it, she’ll be fantastic at it.”

“I’m lost for words. It was amazing to score here and to win for the girls.”

After her strong run had given Dinefwr a foothold in the 22, some smart handling allowed Morgan to wriggle over. She followed that up with a 60 metre gallop that will be a candidate for the try of the ‘Road to Principality 2023’ as Dinefwr went 14-5 ahead before the break.

Scheming scrum half Gwen Williams then picked up an dived over from the base of a Bryn Celynnog scrum five metres out from their line before Morgan once again showcased her athleticism and speed with a hat-trick try from half-way to make the game safe.

Williams also chipped in with three conversions and Freya Morgan added another to make it 28-5 before McCormack sliced through to bag a second try that she also converted to bring proceedings to a close.
