Currently sitting in second place, on Wednesday, 3 May they host the team just three points behind them, Newcastle Emlyn, and on Saturday, 6 May they head to table-topping Llangenench, who are two points ahead of them.

Crymych went to Newcastle Emlyn on the opening day of the season and emerged with an 18-15 win and beat Llangennech at home 17-5 on 1 April.

The top three all have three games to play, with Crymych due to finish their campaign at Llaneli Wanderers on 13 May. Llangennch head to fourth placed Gorseinon and have to re-arrange a game against Hendy for their final outings, while Newcastle Emlyn have to travel to Gowerton and Felinfoel to complete their season.

Llangennech currently sit on top of the table after their seen-try, 47-0 bonus-point win over Gowerton at the weekend. Crymych and Newcastle Emlyn were both gifted five points for their cancelled matches.

The golden boot of Owen Davies made it a perfect week for Kenfig Hill in Division 1 West Central as he kicked his side to a crucial 14-12 home win over promotion rivals Dunvant.

Earlier in the week The Mules had dumped Skewen out of the Central Glamorgan District Cup to reach the final with a 26-12 win. Their victory over Dunvant means they stay above them in second place in the table and very much in the promotion race.

Porthcawl loanee Jordan Skidmore opened the scoring with a  try and a Gethin Jones penalty made it 8-0 to The Mules. Dunvant hit back with a penalty try to cut the gap to one point at the break.

Davies then kicked a penalty to extend the home lead before Dunvant hit back with a second try to put them 12-11 ahead. Then Davies struck again to win the game.

Newbridge’s hopes of going through the season undefeated were shattered as Brecon beat them 45-15 in Division 1 East.

Less than a week after they won the battle of the unbeaten teams against Nant Conwy to lift the WRU Division 1 Cup at Principality Stadium, Newbridge tasted defeat for the first time in 18 league games.

Not only that, it was the first time this season they failed to notch a try bonus-point, being outgunned by four tries to three. Owen Morgan, Thomas Richards, Tomos Davies and Geraint Workman scored the Brecon tries, while Dion Mcintosh kicked 18 points.

Newbridge replied with tries from lock Jakob Duffy, wing Cian Jones and replacement Jordan Reames-Williams. It leaves the league leaders 10 points clear of second placed Brynmawr, who ended their campaign with a 56-0 home win over Dowlais.

Brecon, meanwhile, are still down in fourth place but have six games to play. That means they are still in the hunt for a top three finish and promotion to the Championship.

The battle for the title, promotion and relegation in many leagues is being dictated by the number of cry offs by teams. In Division 1 East Central, league leaders Rumney were gifted five points when Ynysybwl dropped out of their game and both Treorchy and St Peter’s have been given five points for their games next month because Dinas Powys have folded.

St Peter’s are currently second with 71 points, seven behind Rumney, while Treorchy are third.
Nant Conwy got back on the horse after their cup final defeat by running in nine tries in their 57-12 home win over Dolgellau to extend their unbeaten run in Division 1 North to 14 games. They have three games in hand over Pwllheli, who are on 66 points with them.
