It means last season’s Division 1 West winners are only two points behind unbeaten Narberth in second place and four points adrift of league leaders Brecon – the only side to beat them to date this season.

There was a lot at stake in the ‘3rd v 4th’ battle at Bank Road and Llangenench, where both side’s observed a minute’s silence before the game following the passing of former Llangennech player & long serving committeeman, Les James.

The home side were 26-3 ahead by the break, but a second half revival from Dunvant saw them win the second half 17-14. Tom Davies, Jordan Saunders, twice, Steff Marshall, Craig Kelly and Llew Phillips-Taylor were the Llan try scorers., with Marshall and Osian Evans shared kicking duties.

Pace setters Brecon made it six wins from six by defeating Crymych 32-26. Logan McIntosh was at the double while further tries from Jake Newman, Aneurin James and Carl Blacker ensured another win on the road.

Newman kicked two conversions and a penalty. Dale McIntosh’s side remain two points clear of Narberth, who also maintained their own 100 per cent winning record as they took maximum points from a 48-21 home triumph over Newcastle Emlyn. The top two sides will clash at Parc de Pugh on 4 November.

Ystalyfera picked up their first win as they overcame Tata Steel 32-13 in the battle of the bottom two, while Bonymaen were 38-11 victors over Ammanford.

Having got off the mark at Ammanford the week before, Trebanos made it back-to-back wins with a 22-17 defeat of Maesteg Quins. Josh Jones, Josh Ferriman and Mackenzie Clayton scored the tries with Rhys Harris sending over two conversions and a penalty.

In Championship East, Bargoed racked up 11 tries, with four of them coming from full back Dylan Williams, as they beat Beddau 74-7. Centre Ollie Andrews grabbed two with Morgan Powell, Tom Rice, Kieron Brown, Tom Bainton and Owain Cooper also dotting down, while Josh Prosser kicked 19 points

Bargoed just have the edge at the top over Ystrad Rhondda, who bounced back from their home defeat by Cardiff Met to run out victorious at St Peter’s by 43-39.

Jarrad Llewellyn and Kurtis Williams crossed twice. Cole Morgan, Iestyn Griffiths and Ryan Evans also chipped in with tries, while Lewis Williams and Rhys Truelove chipped in with two conversions apiece.

St Peter’s can count themselves a little unfortunate to have only picked up two bonus points after they were, by the visitors’ own admission, the better team on the day. Jay Jones, Harri Gimson, Matty Young, Mike Dacey, Cavell Sinclair and Jake Donovan scored tries for the home side, and Young kicked a penalty and three conversions.

Third placed Cardiff Met are four points back but with a game in hand. Zak Roberts (2), Oliver Jeffery and new Harlequins wing Roma Zheng went over for the Archers in a 40-34 triumph against Cross Keys. Vikas Meijer converted all four tries and added four penalties.

Rumney racked up 55 points without reply at home against Treorchy. Two tries for Tom Maton and one each for Marley Lovell, Rory Pugh, captain Lewis Hill, Harry Ryan and Taylor Pescud, along with a penalty try, secured a resounding win.

Elsewhere, Glamorgan Wanderers beat Bedwas 37-12. Captain Josh Male, Aaron Athur, Ethan Battle, Finn Davies and Chadd Davies scored tries in a five-star win for the Wanderers. Jamin Hodgkins added three conversions, a penalty and a drop goal.
