The visitors scored all of their points in the first half courtesy of tries from Iestyn Griffiths, Mason Roderick and Cole Morgan, all converted by Rhys Truelove, who also kicked a penalty.

Ammanford had taken an early lead through Elis Lewis’ try, converted by Sam Potter. Lewis went over for his second after the break along with a Frazer Gregory try as they threatened a comeback with an excellent second half display but it wasn’t quite enough on the day.

Ystrad are joined in round three by their fellow Championship East pacesetters Bargoed – who overcame Newbridge 22-6 to also advance. Newbridge were the Division 1 Cup winners last season

Dai Evans, Tom Bainton and James Locke all went over in the first half for Bargoed with Josh Prosser adding two conversions for a 19-6 lead at the turnaround with the latter’s penalty the only points scored in the second half. Robbie Turley split the posts twice for Newbridge.

Bedwas got through with tries from Tommy Chapman and Arwel Hughes on their way to a 29-21 home defeat of Trebanos. James Dixon converted both tries and also sent over five penalties.

Alex McNamara and Evan Kneath scored for Trebanos. Rob Jones kicked a conversion and Rhys Harris chipped in with three penalties.

Llangennech progressed four to three on try count after their match at Glamorgan Wanderers ended up al-square at 26-26. Harrison Button, Llew Phillips-Taylor, Richard Bassett and Eray Wilson were the scorers with Osian Evans kicking three conversions.

Narberth defeated Rumney 24-10 thanks to Ricky Guest, a penalty try and four Jonathan Rogers penalties.

Elsewhere, Dunvant saw off Maesteg Quins 29-13 while Cardiff Met are through after beating Penallta 29-17. Aneurin Jenkins and Tom Weekley were the try scorers for the Archers who battled back from behind at the break to win. Sam Berry converted both tries and also kicked five penalties.

The match between Bonymaen and Brecon was postponed due to the weather.
