A number of rising stars shone in last week’s round 10 action of the Indigo Premiership with current and former Wales U20 internationals putting in some serious work.
Young Swansea No 8 Morgan Morse made 18 attacking carries in a losing cause against Cardiff. Still a teenager, Morse was a stand out performer for Wales at U20 level last season so his form will be encouraging with the Six Nations just around the corner.
One of his Wales colleagues from last season, loosehead prop Dylan Kelleher-Griffiths was one of three players who claimed four defensive turnovers in last week’s games.
Kelleher-Griifths was earlier this week included in the Dragons squad heading to South Africa for the United Rugby Championship. Kelleher-Griifths’s Pontypool captain Scott Matthews also snaffled four turnovers while it’s good to see RGC’s Ethan Fackrell back on the pitch after suffering a season ending injury at Bedwas last season. Prior to the injury he was constantly figuring in a number of categories so the north Walians will be delighted to see him back on the pitch.
Ebbw Vale fought tooth and nail to earn their victory against Gwent rivals Newport with their success built on the piano shifters up front. Prop Morgan Davies stood out for the Steelmen, making a combined 45 ruck entries and clearouts.
