Ebbw Vale’s Evan Lloyd has leap frogged last week’s leading contender, Pontypool’s Matthew Jarvis, but only just! Lloyd has now accumulated 144 points to edge past Jarvis by a solitary point with Pontypridd’s Josh Phillips sharing second spot. Of all the sharp shooters, Jarvis boasts the best kicking success rate with 83% with both Lloyd and Phillips slightly behind with a 74% average.
There’s a log jam at the top of the try scoring stakes with five players now locked on seven tries apiece. Lloyd Lewis and Rhys Francis have been constant companions at the head of the list all season with Newport youngster Oli Andrew joining them a few rounds ago. Cardiff’s Dewi Cross and Llandovery’s Taylor Davies have been going about their business quietly and efficiently and have now made it a five horse race at the top of the table.
Jason Strange is certainly getting the best out of his Ebbw Vale pack this campaign and two players in particular deserve a huge pat on the back. Ethan Phillips and Dylan Bartlett have played in all 15 games so far and have stayed on the pitch longer than any other players in the Premiership. Phillips has ammassed a total of 1333 minutes with Bartlett next in line with 1276mins.
