Dewar Shield

Cardiif Schools hold aloft the Dewar Shield

U15 and U11 Boys’ District Schools Finals

The score was level three times between Cardiff Schools and Swansea Schools in a dramatic Dewar Shield final. With three converted tries each, only a penalty five minutess from time for Llanishen’s Harrison James, who had already contributed 11 points, broke the deadlock for Cardiff Schools to lift the prestigious trophy with a 24-21 victory.

Swansea Valley Schools defeated Carmarthen Schools 34-27 in the Morgan Griffiths Plate but despite the result on the day, just playing rugby again is the biggest achievement for one Carmarthen Schools player who had to learn to walk again just a few years ago. The day will live long in the memories off all involved.

In the Lawrence Miller Bowl final, Neath Schools beat Aberavon Schools 23-17. Neath may have ended up as winners, beating their local rivals in the end but the result was certainly secondary to the inspiration gained from being part of Road to Principality 2019.

In the DC Thomas Cup Final, Cynon Valley Schools came away 20-15 victors against Pontypool Schools. In what was a fantastic achievement for both teams in reaching the final, the match proved a great experience for the young players involved.
