Youth Bowl Final

Resolven and Tenby contested the National Youth Bowl Final

National Youth Finals day at Principality Stadium

Resolven snatched victory from Tenby with a nail-biting 24-23 victory in a thrilling WRU Youth Bowl Final. The game was an exhibition of heads up rugby and strong running between two very well matched teams. Tenby were more clinical and every venture into opposition territory in the opening quarter resulted in points for a 9-0 lead before winger Oakley Milton touched down and Harry Rossiter added the conversion. Resolven retaliated with two tries of their own, Dom Wood and Jack Keenan the scores, to leave Resolven trailing 14-16 at the break. Resolven took the lead early in the second half thanks to an Evans penalty and quickly followed up with a try from Thomas Davies. Tenby retaliated with a converted try but Resolven held out manfully to claim the spoils.

Cardiff Quins won the WRU Youth Finals Plate by beating Penallta 15-7. Penallta dominated the attack in the first half, sending wave after wave of runners into the Quins’ half. Shortly before half time Quins capitalised on Penallta errors and crossed the whitewash through Oscar O’Hare and Gwion Jones for a 10-0 lead at half time. The next score came halfway through the second half with Penallta centre Karlin Claridge touching down and Will Keep adding the conversion. But a try from outside half Iwan Burrows made the game safe for Cardiff Quins.

Cardiff Met won the WRU Youth Cup Final convincingly, beating Morriston 56-0. Met ran in eight converted tries. Eight different players got their names on the score sheets with Tomos Workman getting things under way in just the second minute. Harry Sutherland, Michael Holden, Ethan McVeigh, Joe Booth, Milan Patel, Iwan Griffith and Cameron King then followed. Thomas Price had an unforgettable day with the boot, adding eight conversions. Morriston backs coach and Ospreys winger Keelan Giles was full of praise for his boys: “I’m proud as punch. They’ve all come through the system from playing tag rugby together. They were unlucky with the score but I’m proud of the effort they put in. It was class seeing the boys in awe walking out at Principality Stadium.”
