Women’s Health

As part of the WRU’s ambition to be a People First employer, the People Team launched a Women’s Health Policy in Summer 2023. The policy is designed to support staff and managers around women’s health, including enhanced leave for periods, menopause, fertility treatment and pregnancy loss. Attracting, supporting and developing women working at the WRU is a key ambition in our EDI Plan (2023-2028) and ensuring women can be their best at work is integral to this aim.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

The WRU aims for its workforce, and rugby in Wales, to be representative of its communities. This is where our people contribute to our ambition to provide a game for all.

As part of the recruitment process, we use anonymous screening to help remove bias from our shortlisting process. We also offer reasonable adjustments at each stage of the hiring process; if you would like to discuss an adjustment, please contact our People Team via email

We have a zero tolerance approach to discrimination, harassment and bullying across all areas of rugby in Wales. If you have a concern that you would like to raise with us, please see our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy for more information.

The WRU also has an active EDI Champions group, who meet on a monthly basis and in 2023, developed an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Plan, detailing our EDI journey over the next 5 years and our priorities as a governing body.
