The third and final game today saw Llandaff North and Bonymaen go toe to toe for the South Wales Cup.

A dramatic start to the final saw Llandaff North make quick work of a loose pass to send the ball out wide to put Zoe Heeley away in the corner.

Bonymaen looked to answer back with Amy Price slicing through to take play into Llandaff’s half but a penalty against Bonymaen allowed thir opponents to clear back up field.

A penalty in hand for Llandaff North allowed them the kick to the corner for the line out. Conjuring up an attack, powerful carries sent Catherine Richards over for their second try of the game.

Bonymaen’s Ffion Bowen powered her way through Llandaff North’s defence to try and take play out of her own half before being turned over to hand possession back.

With momentum swinging in favour of Llandaff North, Liliana Podpadec made the break in mid field to make headway for her side. But a huge tackle from Bailey stopped her in her tracks.

Penalties in favour of Llandaff North kept them edging closer to the try line. Quick ball out wide set Rhi Parker over for their third try of the match.

Looking for a score before the break. Cherry Morris charged down Llandaff North’s kick and pressure from the pack looked to be the making of a try only for Llandaff to keep them scoreless at half time.

Running out for the second half and Bonymaen were first out of the blocks. Sarah Berry with the initial break to set up the attack deep in the 22. Keeping hold of it well Amy Thomas crashed over the line for the try. Bailey converting to put the scores at 17-7.

On the search for their second try, Bailey made an impressive break out wide to race from the halfway line before being brought down agonisingly close to the try line. Llandaff North securing the penalty to take play out of the their danger zone.

A tug of war in the third quarter saw Llandaff North dominate the territory but the Bonymaen defence kept them away from the scoreboard with neither side able to capitalise.

Llandaff North’s efforts eventually paid off with Amberley Ruck dancing her way over the line for the try. Converting her own try to take the scores to 24-7 as the game entered its final 10 minutes.

Bonymaen looked to finish strong but couldn’t get over the gain line which ensured Llandaff North were crowned South Wales Cup champions.
