Owen: We will get better

Wales were leading 23-22 when the hooter went in the First Test, but as play went on Australia were able to get a match-winning try.

“We have come away on a tour and tried to be really positive and that is still there,” said Owen, who came on as a first half replacement.

“We are obviously bitterly disappointed not to win the game last week because we definitely should have won. Having got ahead we should have won the game, but that is the way it is in sport. We have the chance to put it right and that is what we will do.

“We will be better this week. We have had a game and settled in and we are raring to go again.”

Owen believes the route of their first Test was a commitment to tear into the Wallabies and he expects more of the same.

“We have to get out there on Saturday and have a go,” said the Dragons No 8.

“Both sides will feel they can improve, that tends to be what happens with Wales; the longer we are together as a squad the better we get and hopefully that will happen again.

“We were confident we had a good team even though there were players left behind. We played well at the weekend but we can play a lot better, we just have to go out on Saturday and give it a go.”
