Scarlets coach Nigel Davies had told his players it was down to them to work out all the inaccuracies that almost cost them victory over Connacht the previous weekend and there were no fingers or thumbs from the home side this time.
Making up for their opening defeat in Italy against the other new team in the league, Benetton Treviso, the Scarlets have now piled up 11 points to put themselves near the top of the table thanks to their 49-10 bonus point victory over Aironi.
Davies grabbed two tries against Connacht, but also threw away two more potential scores with some poor handling. This time, though, there were no problems as he sent a clear sign to Wales coach Warren Gatland that he wants to be in the mix for the November internationals.
Tries from Andrew Fenby and Martin Roberts helped the Scarlets build an 18-3 interval lead, but the second half became one-way traffic. Davies ran in his try hat-trick and there was a third try of the season for last season’s Wales Under 18 international George North.
Stephen Jones took his tally for the season to 34 points in two outings as he chipped in with 19 points and the only response from Aironi was a last gasp try from former Munster No 8 Nick Williams which outside half Ludovic Mercier converted.
The Scarlets now face two Welsh derby matches as they prepare for the start of their Heineken Cup campaign next month. They travel to Newport to meet the Dragons on 24 September and then host the Ospreys, the reigning Magners League champions, at Parc y Scarlets on Saturday, 2 October.
