Tito tips Blues to perform

Paul Tito is confident Cardiff Blues can go to Munster and perform this weekend after getting their Magners League campaign back on track with a 38-6 victory over Glasgow on Saturday.

After recording four wins in their first five games the Blues were one of the Magners League pace-setters. But two home losses at the hands of the Scarlets and Ulster, either side of an away victory over Aironi, derailed their campaign.

They got back to winning ways with a bonus-point triumph over Glasgow and Tito believes the Blues can take confidence from the victory going into Thomond Park on Saturday.

“I thought we played a lot better against Glasgow,” said Tito. “We put ourselves under a bit of pressure at times, but I thought in the end it was a pretty convincing win.

“We held strong and had a bit more bite in our defence. That was probably the most pleasing thing out of the game.

“We’ve been a bit soft in defence of late. But we didn’t allow Glasgow into the game and to finish without them crossing for a try was a pleasing improvement.

“We don’t normally do too bad out in Munster and we’ll go there looking to build on the excellent result we had at the weekend.

“We are going there with confidence knowing that whatever team they put out we will be able to go there and perform.

“But Munster are a very good team, especially at home, so we are under no illusions about how tough that’s going to be.”

The Blues could also be boosted by a host of their Welsh internationals although Martyn Williams will be unavailable having been selected to face South Africa with the Barbarians.

“Getting the boys back from the autumn internationals is a good spring for us, but we have to make sure we put that out on the field this weekend,” continued Tito.

“We’ve changed a few things since the boys left us, but hopefully the boys will be able to get back into the groove pretty quickly.”
