The Dolgellau-based midfielder scored a hat-trick against Scotland in the Six Nations championship to be named Player of the Match.

Evans, who in 2005 was named Welsh Women’s Rugby Union Player of the Year, has been a permanent fixture in the Dolgellau Ladies’ team since she turned 16. She has represented Wales 36 times, gaining her first full senior cap playing against Ireland in 2004.

She stepped down from international duties in 2007 following a broken collar bone, but she continued to play for Dolgellau once she recovered from her injury.

Evans now coaches the Dolgellau Ladies who train on a Thursday night. Despite her obvious success and ability, she is the first person to encourage new players and inspire the team.

As well as coaching the senior Dolgellau Rugby Ladies team, she also coaches the promising youngsters within the club, at the U12 age group. She has been involved on a weekly basis with the Junior Section since the section was reformed about six years ago.

As well as her sporting success, Elen is the first person to volunteer to help with fundraising events, helping behind the scenes by cooking/washing up, refereeing and coaching.
