First up for the Welsh All Blacks is a home clash with Llandaff North, who boast many of the players who featured for Cardiff Quins in the last campaign.

It’s a thrilling start to the regular club season, one which culminates at the end of November before Wales Women’s head coach Rhys Edwards starts selection ahead of the RBS 6 Nations campaign.

With that in mind, the club season is a vital first chance for the Wales Women’s management group to look at players ahead of the new season.

“The club season is a brilliant opportunity to develop the talent that is out there across Wales,” said Edwards.

“We’re always looking to develop strength in depth in our squad ahead of the international fixtures and the games which take place up until November are a vital part of that.”

While Neath Athletic’s clash with Llandaff is the tie of the opening weekend, the other Premiership clash sees Pontyclun host Seven Sisters while the Cardiff Met have a bye in the opening round of fixtures.

In Division One, Croesyceiliog start their first season in the second tier with a trip to Caernarfon, Whitland host Pencoed and Gwernyfed face Blaenau Gwent.

The opening round of Division Two sees Barry play Gorseinon, Penallta clash with Sea View and a meeting between Maesteg Celtic and Tylorstown.

Division Three is divided into north and south, Abergele against Welshpool and Kidwelly against Haverfordwest standout fixtures in either league.

“We’ve got more teams registered throughout the leagues than last year,” said WRU Lead Development Manager for the Women’s game, Ben Rose.

“It means competition in each division is going to be tougher than ever and that’s something we’re all looking forward to.

“I’m sure that will benefit the girls throughout the season and the Welsh side too.”
