Keys lifted the trophy two years ago, beating Ponty 32-19 at the Millennium Stadium and two sides go head-to-head this weekend.

The Pandy Park outfit have battled through a tough draw in the competition to reach the final and they can’t wait for the clash according to skipper Leon Andrews.

“We play rugby to be in big games like these and the whole squad has played a part in getting us into this position – everybody has stepped up,” he said.

“To be playing in a second Swalec Cup final in three years is pretty special and shows how far we have come as a team and as a club.

“Pontypridd have been the team to beat at our level for a number of seasons now.

“They have lost their head coach Dale McIntosh to Cardiff Blues and a few key players but Ponty are always strong.

“But anyone can beat anyone in the Premiership and we have already shown that once this season.

“We need to step up again today, play to our potential and give it a real go. I think it will be close and there’s no reason why we can’t come out on top.”

SWALEC Finals day kicks off with the SWALEC Bowl with Clwb Rygbi Cymry Caerdydd taking on Llantwit Major at 1pm. Merthyr, who beat former finalists Glynneath 66-10 In the semi-final, take on another Cardiff club Rhiwbina at 3.15 in the SWALEC Plate Final before SWALEC Cup champions Pontypridd facing 2012 winners Cross Keys at 5.25pm.

There will be a whole host of activities on offer for all the family, from face painting, balloon artists, a circus school and mask making. There will be a Scorch Zone around the Gate 3 entrance and an opportunity to meet a Wales international player.
