PREVIEW: Bridgend v Llanelli

Both sides have had a difficult Premiership campaign to date – winning just four of their t2 encounters. Llanelli sit one place and two points ahead of the Ravens in the current standings, so the Ravens know a win would aid their aim to propel themselves up the Premiership table.

Llanelli find themselves in unfamiliar territory, languishing near the bottom echelons of the Premiership table. They took a break from Premiership action with back to back games in the Foster’s Challenge Cup against Llandovery. They lost both games (14-18 and 16-22). They lost their last Principality Premiership game against champions Pontypridd at Sardis Road by 38-6.

After a brief recovery, winning four league games on the bounce, Bridgend have slumped to four straight defeats (against Carmarthen, Ebbw Vale – and Aberavon twice, albeit in the Foster’s Cup).

The Ravens know that they’ll need to show more of the form which saw them down Neath, Cardiff, Bedwas and Pontypridd in a sensational four week spell of form. The youthful squad are back at home for their first home league game since that stunning win against Pontypridd, and will look to reward their band of loyal supporters with another home maximum.

The reverse fixture last campaign ended 16-16. Henri Williams try dragged Bridgend back into a game that they had struggled to get to grips with and Owen Howe’s boot almost saw the Ravens come away with the win.
