The 6ft 6in tall second row has returned from Ealing Trailfinders to help the Exiles keeping climbing up the RFU league ladder after three consecutive promotions. This season they will be playing in London 1 South and chasing one of three promotion places.

The club’s ‘Project Reset’ targeted four promotions in five seasons following their ignominious drop out of the professional game and under director of rugby Cai Griffiths they have made an impressive start to their return to somewhere near the top.

West played more than 50 times for London Welsh during his first stint at Old Deer Park and helped the club win promotion in the 2013-14 season and to lift the British & Irish Cup in 2016. He is one of a number of new recruits at the ambitious club.

Griffiths gave debuts to 11 newcomers in the 19-12 win at Bracknell in their first pre-season fixture last weekend, including another second row in the 32-times capped Norwegian international James Buncle.

The Exiles face Brighton, from the fifth tier, this weekend before completing their pre-season with a trip to the Arms Park to face the Cardiff Rags on 28 August. Their league campaign gets underway at Battersea on 4 September.
