Coleg Y Cymoedd currently sit on top of the table with 20 points, but have played a game more than Coleg Sir Gar, who also have the same number of points. Cymoedd host last season’s runner-up, Llandovery College today (wednesday, 12 October), while Sit Gar welcome third placed Ysgol Glantaf.

The other Top Six clash sees reigning champions Cardiff & Vale College head north to play this season’s surprise package, Coleg Llandrillo. The Gogs went to Llandovery last week and went home cheering a 22-19 victory that made it four wins from five.

“We’ve almost got a league within a league this season and the top six look set to battle it out for the top spots. We were delighted with our win against CAVC last week, but know we are going to have to be at our best to hold Glantaf,” said Sir Gar head coach, Euros Evans.

“It was a really physical battle in Cardiff on CAVC’s new all-weather surface. If we could be playing at that level every week it would be fantastic.

“We won at the death in a great game against Millfield in our bye week and this was right up there with that performance.”

Tries from Max Page, jac Pritchard, Gabe McDonald and Harry Thomaa snot only made it four out of four for the former champions, but also earned them a vital bonus-point. McDonald also added three conversions.

Wales U18 back row star Lucas de la Rua scored two of CAVC’s three tries, with Elijah Evans getting the other one. Rhys Mottram kicked two penalties and a conversion and Tom Hughes added a second conversion.

“Sir Gar really fronted up and it was a high- quality game. Losing was tough to take for our lads, but they will have to learn from it – and quickly with a log trip to north Wales to come,” said CAVC director of rugby, Martyn Fowler.

“It really is getting tight at the top and if we want to hold onto our title we can’t afford any more slip ups.”

Cymoedd ran in nine tries in their 57-7 win over Bridgend College, while Whitchurch HS had tries from Ben Spittle, Jack Sweeney and Chay Sinclair in their 21-12 home win over Newport HS last week. Whitchurch head to Gower College this round to face a hoe team that won 33-7 at Neath Port Talbot College last week,
