After beating England 13-12 and hosts France 17-16, Wales rounded off the week in style, scoring five tries against a robust Italian outfit in Lyon.

Italy, a year older in age and significantly bigger in size, were difficult to stop with the ball in hand, but once Wales gained parity in possession, they had the runners to make the difference.

Scarlets wing Dale Ford produced an impressive performance, scoring 16 points in the first half through a brace of tries and two penalties; two conversions from Blues North fly half Joseff Griffin helping Wales to a healthy 20-8 half-time lead.

Centre Luke Williams (Scarlets), wing Eli Walker (Ospreys) and fullback Elliott Jones (Blues South) all crossed after the break, with Griffin converting all three tries.

Wales U16 Team Manager Darryl Hill said, “The tournament has been a huge learning curve for the players but they have all performed admirably. This is the first step on the international ladder and it doesn’t get any easier from here but from what we have seen this week, there is a lot more to come from some of these players.”
