Pontypridd continue to set the pace in the Principality Premiership courtesy of last night’s 31-8 victory over Tonmawr at Sardis Road.

Ponty are heading the table with 47 points, just one ahead of arch rivals Neath.

Owen Sheppeard, Lewis Williams and Chris Dicomidis scored tries for Ponty with Dean Gunter knocking over two conversions and four penalties for a personal haul of 16 points while Darryl Harvey crossed for Tonmawr.

Neath continue to breathe down Ponty’s neck after coming away from Cardiff Arms Park with a hard fought 13-20 victory.

The Welsh All Blacks outscored Cardiff two tries to one with Tom James and Ross Davies crossing for Neath while Jimmy Norris responded for Cardiff. Cardiff’s Gareth Davies added a conversion and two penalties but James Thomas’s two conversions and two penalties proved the difference.

Aberavon recorded a comfortable 34-14 triumph over Llandovery with Matthew Jarvis leading the way with a drop goal, penalty and four conversions to tries scored by Richard Carter (2), Will Price and Nathan Strong.

The result of the night belonged to Bedwas who not for the first time upset the form book by beating Swansea 29-25.

Glamorgan Wanderers are firmly rooted to the bottom of the table after losing 58-26 at Llanelli while Pontypool lost 15-22 to Newport and Cross Keys lost 11-16 to Carmarthen Quins.
