Full-back Matthew Jarvis inspired Swalec Championship leaders Merthyr to defeat Glynneath 51-15, as the Ironmen ran in seven tries, including two from Matthew Rees.

The former Wales Under 20 outside half was instrumental in the latest big win for the Championship leaders, bagging two tries for himself in a personal tally of 22 points.

Newbridge held off Newcastle Emlyn easily, with tries from Craig Duncan, Matthew McGovern, Lewis Blacker and Lewis Hudd. Hudd also kicked nine points on the way to victory.

A powerful RGC 1404 performance saw them demolish Tata Steel 57-0. Seven players scored for the north Walians, who dominated throughout, with Tata having nothing to show for their effort.

James Lang and Danny Cross both scored tries and contributed with the boot, with Lang converting twice and Cross three times. The Saints had opportunities in their opponents’ half, but were never able to convert their chances to points.

Pontypool put in a powerful performance to beat Cardiff Met 45-10. The Students were unable to defend against the sustained assaults of Pooler, who were on song all afternoon. Clayton Gullis opened the scoring, and converted five of the hosts’ seven tries.

In a tight match between Beddau and Narberth, the away side clung on to win 20-16. Narberth were by far the better side in the first half, but Beddau picked up the pace after the break. Two conversions from Ianto Griffiths were all that separated the sides as Narberth held off a Beddau revival in the closing stages

Swansea put five tries past Bridgend Athletic in a 39-12 victory. A hat-trick from Andrew Claypole put the Whites out of reach, with tries for captain Sam Kiley and newcomer Jack Perkins.
