Newport set sights high

Newport will travel west on this evening knowing that a win against Llanelli will see them go top of the Principality Premiership – but probably only for a couple of days.

The Black & Ambers have had mixed fortunes at Parc y Scarlets but the big wide pitch and good surface will be to their liking and they will be keen to get the ball to their exciting running backs.

The Newport team selected has a more settled look as changes are made after trying out 11 permit players in the Foster’s Challenge Cup game against Ebbw Vale.  Llywarch Ap Myrddin comes straight in at full-back after recovering from injury with Ryan James and Arwel Robson gets the nod to continue their successful partnership at half back.

In the pack the only change from the eight who performed so well in the last league game against Ebbw Vale is the return of Rhys Jenkins at seven.  He replaces Joe Culimore who drops to the bench after a great debut performance last time out.
