New Signings At The Gnoll

New Signings At The Gnoll

Neath have made their ambitions for next season clear by adding Wales centre Adrian Durston and Wales A forwards Andy Newman and Hywel Jenkins to their ranks.
Durston, who plays at centre and full-back, toured Japan with Wales last summer and joins Neath from Bridgend.
Neath coach Lyn Jones said, “Adrian is one of Welsh rugby’s enigmas. He is a tremendously talented footballer, but recognised it was time for a fresh challenge after spending many years at Bridgend. Our track record over the years has shown that at Neath we have helped such players achieve their full potential, and we are expecting Adrian to develop and challenge for international recognition during his time at the club.”
24 year old Wales A lock Andy Newman joins Neath from Northampton, the club with whom he lifted the Heineken Cup in 2000.
Coach Lyn Jones said, “Andy, just like Hywel and Adrian, has under-achieved in his career to date. He is at the critical half way stage if he is to develop into an international second row, and the next few years will be vital for his development. He needs to knuckle down and work hard in our
environment. He will give us a physical edge with his bulk, and we are
delighted to have secured his services, in spite of strong competition from both Welsh and English clubs”
Hywel Jenkins toured Canada with the Wales development squad in 2000 and played for Wales A during the 2000/2001 season. He leaves Swansea to join the Welsh All Blacks.
Jones said, “Hywel is a hugely talented player who is maturing with age. He will also bring a physical presence and will add to an already strong back row. Everyone recognises Hywel’s ability to play at the highest level, and it is our job to help him realise his full potential and achieve his international goals.”
