American Eagles outside half Mike Hercus has quit the Scarlets to join the Dragons. The 26-year-old is joined by fellow USA cap Paul Emerick in switching to Rodney Parade.

Emerick joins from Overmach Rugby Parma, the Italian side that beat the Dragons to the final place in next season’s Heineken Cup with their victory in Newport last month. Like Hercus, Emerick has signed a two-year deal with the Dragons and is currently playing for his country in their summer Tests.

A third signing made by Dragons coach Paul Turner is the experienced Glasgow prop Lee Harrison. The 28-year-old will join forces with former Glasgow team mate Andrew Hall at Rodney Parade.

“We have signed three players who will bring strength to our squad and their arrival will increase competition for places,” said Turner. “They are all skillful and will be effective players in our squad in the challenges of Celtic League, European Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup competitions.”

Meanwhile, fullback Leigh Hinton has left the region by mutual agreement.
