Robinson in as Thomas is banned

Jenkins has confirmed, after hearing the news Gareth Thomas’s ban, that Blues centre Jamie Robinson will play in the centre for Wales against Ireland in the RBS Six Nations clash on Sunday and Hal Luscombe will move from centre to wing.

On the bench Robinson is replaced by uncapped Newport Gwent Dragons youngster Aled Brew.

“We are obviously all hugely disappointed, but we always had a contingency in place which is robust and we’ll now deal with the Irish challenge on that basis,” said Jenkins. “Our main focus has to be the match on Sunday and preparing the squad of players we have selected to perform in front of a sell-out Millennium Stadium crowd.”

Welsh Rugby Union Group Chief Executive Roger Lewis added: “Together with our lawyers, we will be carefully considering the implications of this ruling.”

Wales: Kevin Morgan; Hal Luscombe, Jamie Robinson, James Hook, Chris Czekaj; Stephen Jones (captain), Dwayne Peel; Gethin Jenkins, T Rhys Thomas, Chris Horsman, Ian Gough, Alun Wyn Jones, Alix Popham, Martyn Williams, Ryan Jones

Replacements: Matthew Rees, Duncan Jones, Robert Sidoli, Gavin Thomas, Michael Phillips, Ceri Sweeney, Aled Brew
