The vastly experienced player joins the Blues from Worcester Warriors where he made 64 appearances for the club, having joined them from the Leicester Tigers where he made 74 appearances, starting 54 times.

Born in Pontypridd, and educated at Aberdare Boys School, Neath College and the University of Glamorgan, Morris first came on to the international scene in 1998 before going on to make 18 appearances for Wales.

Morris also went on to tour with the British and Irish Lions in Australia in 2001, coming on as a replacement for Tom Smith in the third test.

Speaking of the signing Cardiff Blues Director of Rugby David Young said: “With Gethin Jenkins injured while playing for the Lions it was important that we brought in a player with experience to cover.”

“Darren is a quality player with a wealth of experience which is crucial, especially playing in some of the bigger Heineken Cup games.”

“He will add depth to our squad and is able to play on either side of the scrum, which could be a very important option for us considering the injuries we have picked up over the summer.”

“He has demonstrated his ability having played 18 times for Wales and toured with the Lions and I’m sure he will help develop some of the youngsters we have coming through also.”
