After being confirmed in the new position earlier today, Beale who previously held the role of team manager at Rodney Parade, believes the region needs to look forward and adopt a more optimistic approach.

“For too long everything associated with the Dragons has been pessimistic and its time for optimism,” he said.

“We need to lose the ‘what we haven’t got’ tag and focus on what we have got, we have got a young vibrant coaching team, an environment that is changing daily and we need to be positive and that is message we are trying to put across.

“We have a heck of a lot to offer our players, Darren is extremely focused on the region and we know exactly where we intend to be and have plans in place of how to get there.

“The young coaching team here is exciting and their work ethic is second to none and I feel very excited about this announcement and the future of the region.

“Darren’s role is very hands on and he will be coaching and developing the squad.

“Darren is in charge of rugby on the pitch and my role is to support him off the pitch and my focus is the region as a whole.”
