Athletic fend off favourite’s tag

Neath have been in irresistible mood this season, having gone through the domestic season unbeaten. The defending champions will begin the showpiece final as firm favourites, a fact which Pontyclun playmaker Laura Prosser confirms.

“They are a side brimming with international talent so we are going to have our work cut out. They possess plenty of pace out wide with Kerin Lake and Charlie Murray and up front they are always competitive.

“But we are a side mixed with youth and experience so hopefully we can produce the goods on the day to cause an upset.”

Neath Athletic however will be taking nothing for granted according to lineout ace Shona Powell Hughes.

“Anything can happen in a one-off game. Pontyclun played really well in their semi-final so we know they pose a genuine threat.”

In the WRU Women’s Plate final (also on Sunday), Caernarfon take on Seven Sisters at Maesteg with a 1pm kick-off
