Training courses for groundsmen

The WRU, FAW and Sport Wales are working with theInstitute of Groundsmanship to provide training for volunteer groundsmen.

The long term objective of the training is to improve grass playing surfaces across Wales.

Sport Wales have agreed that rugby clubs can include IOG Groundsman Training courses in their Community Chest application and a number of roadshows and workshops are also offered free of charge as Professional Development.

The next of these roadshows is at Haverfordwest Cricket Club on 24 August. The course is open to all, where a total of seven CPD points can be claimed for attendance.

There will be an opportunity to view various live machinery demonstrations from the leading manufacturers, distributors and suppliers of ground care maintenance products and a chance to meet some of the local  trade suppliers.

There will also there be two educational seminars covering some interesting topics, plus free light refreshments provided throughout the day.

Registration is at 9.30am with the day expected to close at 3.30pm.
