A big crowd turned out to support the clubs ‘Celebration Saturday’ when they were presented with the SWALEC trophy following their definitive 45-0 home win against Rhydydfelin on 18 May. The team has won every home match this season losing only 3 games away.

RGC General Manager, Rupert Moon, comments: “The journey started 50 weeks ago with two great coaches Chris Horsman and Damian McGrath working expertly with our players. This season we have scored 118 tries, only conceding seven tries at home and importantly we have only attempted 12 penalty kicks at goal. We talk about training to be a skillful team, and we have proved it on the field. We focus on playing real rugby.”

“This win is the reward for the WRU creating an academy and investing in the facilities at Parc Eirias, three years ago, with the support of Conwy Borough Council. We have good people, good coaches, good staff and first rate facilities which has allowed the migration of talent to RGC. Our foundations are the 36 clubs in North Wales who have encouraged junior players to work with RGC. North Wales have smashed through the glass ceiling.”

Kelvin Davies, Captain adds: “We have trained hard three times a week and have spent nearly 100 hours on the bus to travel over 5,000 miles, the boys deserve this win. We are back training in three weeks. The coaches push us hard, and rightly so, we want to play in the top division of rugby and we will work hard to get there.”
