Lampeter applied the pressure early on to take play into their opponents half with a line out on the 22. Ploughing their way through the phases a nicely timed break from Sian Davies put the centre in for the try.

A penalty against Blackwood moments later allowed Lampeter to kick for the line out deep in their opponents half. A solid driving maul sent the pack over for try number two with Natasha Roberts converting.

Firmly in control, Lampeter’s Sioned Jones nicely side stepped in field to find Davies on her outside who raced under the posts for the brace. Roberts booting the extras.

Blackwood had their chances moments later after a break in midfield set the pack up metres from the try line but a penalty against them for holding on denied them a score.

Back in possession, Lampeter’s Davies put her foot on the gas once again set up play in Blackwood’s half. Quick ball out wide sent Carys Schofield over the whitewash for the try. Chloe Fletcher converting to put the score at 26-0 half time.

Davies clinched the hat trick for Lampeter as the second half kicked off, finishing off a physical attack to score.

Looking to answer back Blackwood with penalties stacking in their favour kept edging their way closer to the line. A yellow card against Lampeter’s Sioned Jones allowed Blackwood to capitalise but a knock on over the line denied them the score.

But their hard fought efforts were soon rewarded with Lily Snape piercing through the defence for the try.

Blackwood looked for their second score with Ceri Bailey-Lewis making the break to race deep into Lampeter’s half to set up the attack. Quick work from the pack sent Snape over for the brace with Kayleigh Phipps converting.

Keen to get their third try of the match, Blackwood with the line out on the 22 powered their way through Lampeter’s defence sending Megan Vidal to put the scores at 31-17 with 10 minutes to go.

Lampeter’s Davies hunted down her fourth try moments later with an impressive run out wide from her own half to beat six defenders and score the try, Fiona Protheroe converting.

On a mission to finish strong, Blackwood raced into Lampeter’s 22 and a strong surge sent Snape over for the hat trick but it wasn’t enough to prevent Lampeter claiming the South Wales Plate with a 38-22 victory.
